Personally (for games that aren't competitive), I like local authoritative movement and animation and stuff as it just feels better for the players (easier to hack but I think if you are gonna hack a game like this to play with your friends I guess that's your prerogative). This project has only ever used Mirror, but from what I can tell Netcode just doesn't have all the same features out of the box, but it's similar enough I could see myself using it once more transports and stuff are available and it gets a little battle tested. It's funny cause I started out learning Unity's original networking solution which I can't even remember what they called it way back when, then Unet, then Unet deprecated and I stuck with it via Mirror, but I've also started dabbling a bit in the Netcode for Gameobjects (and I want to try out Netcode for Entities and get into all the ECS goodness as well). I have other games I've "released" on itch.io as game jam entries that I'm honestly more proud of and now that this is finally done I'll probably focus on doing more game jams instead since I tend to appreciate the results a lot more. I've learned a ton in the time I worked on the game, it's been so much of a learning opportunity and it's honestly not even the kind of game I'm typically interested in playing (except I'll play just about anything that's multiplayer with my friends.) I don't think the game itself is well designed and basically doesn't have any reason to exist other than I wanted to learn from it.
